Benefits to an Employer

Traineeships mean you can train your own people.  They give you staff who are familiar with your company, your work environment, your standards, your equipment and your customers.  It's also your chance to give someone an opportunity to learn valuable skills as you teach them what you know.

Taking on an apprentice or trainee provides

  • You with an opportunity to select your own people for the future of your company
  • Qualified employees trained your way for your business
  • Queensland Government funding assistance for the training of eligible trainees
  • Financial benefits for you including Commonwealth Government incentives
  • Better customer service by having trained staff
  • Skills preserved and passed on for the future

Employers taking on trainees are provided with Commonwealth incentives, depending upon the level of training and the outcomes:

Certificate II Commencement Incentive $1,250

This is payable to employers who commence a trainee at Certificate II.

Certificate III Commencement Incentive $1,500

This is payable to employers who commence a trainee at Certificate III.

Completion Incentive $2,500

This is payable to employers whose trainees complete a Certificate III traineeship.

Additional Incentives for Employers of School Based Trainees

Commencement - Employers who commence a trainee while they are still at school may be able to receive an additional $750 on commencement.
